'Wilderness of the Heart'

Art Statement

A Tasmanian Wuthering Heights oil painting. My inspiration was the moors at Cradle Mountain National Park. I imagined Cathy running across the buttongrass plains with reckless abandon. It is a crisis painting. She is running from something – perhaps a life of limitation, suppression, restraint. A gothic world of expectation and subjugation where a headstrong woman has no freedom to dream.
