The Virgin – Sixth sign

Virgo, as an earth sign, is historically represented by the goddess of wheat and agriculture. Virgos are logical, analytical and systematic, and are experts at taking chaotic systems and processing them into organised clear concepts. They favour reason and order above even their own feelings but perfectionism through diligent and meticulous practice is their biggest strength. The core of Virgo is the virgin, experiencing everything for the first time, so I have chosen to reference a wedding headdress, the traditional Russian Kokoshnik. As the virgin she is holding an apple blossom (before it fruits) and behind her is an espalier apple tree diligently tended and perfected. Her face is young and innocent and her hair reminiscent of Botticelli’s Venus. The headdress is a meticulous work of art with hundreds of pure white pearls showcasing her love of methodical order and detail.
