'Spotted Quoll'

 Art Statement

The Tiger Quoll, also known as the Spotted-tail Quoll, the Spotted Quoll, native cat or tiger cat, is a carnivorous marsupial native to Australia. With males weighing around 3.5kg, they are the world's second largest carnivorous marsupial behind the Tasmanian Devil. With fur colour ranging from beige to dark brown, the light-coloured spots are very distinctive. The spotted-tailed quoll is now threatened throughout its mainland range. I have drawn a  Spotted-tail Quoll resting on a gnarled branch using charcoal and graphite pencil. The background is created using a large house painting brush loaded with powdered charcoal. The large strokes are then sprinkled with acetone which reacts with the charcoal to produce light droplets.
