We've all been there; times when life has burdened us with pain and sorrow. Like the wind and rain buffeting a time-worn tree, we retreat to our core and weather the storm, throwing down roots and hanging on - surviving. When the storm passes, we are changed. An alchemy has occurred and we emerge stronger, more resilient - weathered but more beautiful somehow - infinitely wiser and more sensitive to the suffering of others. The more we experience hardship, the more we can see it in others and the environment around us. It cracks open the tough exterior of separateness which was only skin deep and reveals the golden core of oneness and love for all living things.
